Over the past few years, there have been a surge of open-source browsers. From the days of netscape, we see many new flavours of browsers currently in the market today. I say top 10 but without any preference of order.

1. Tor Browser – An fully privacy browser that seems to be under survellance from CIA. TOR (based on firefox) is a network that spoofs IP addresses via a distributed base of proxies. This means it would be very hard to trace where you are. [https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser.html.en]
2. Firefox Browser – An all time long standing browser from mozilla. Its fully open-source and has gained quite some following. [https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/new/]
3. Safari Browser – The browser from APPLE. Period. [http://www.apple.com/uk/safari/]
4. Chrome Browser – The semi open source browser from Google. It boasts to be fast and secure, however coming from a company that traces your actions (Google ADs now require IP identification for all users; meaning if you see a google ad, they know who you are and what you like.) 5. Opera Browser – Opera is another provider of yet another popular browser. Apparently it is the most installed browser in the world. [http://www.opera.com/]
6. Internet Explorer – The default browser from Microsoft. At a point of time, IE was the reigning champion with over 80% installs in the world being IE. Now its a measly 30%+. [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/internet-explorer/download-ie]
7. Whitehat Security Browser Aviator – A privacy based browser from whitehat security labs. Its built from chromium an open source alternative of chrome. Sadly, they ceased to operate since early this year but they have graciously donated their code based on github. [https://www.whitehatsec.com/aviator/]
8. Chromium – The open source version of chrome. Chromium (which can be distinctly seen as blue shades rather than chrome’s RGB logo.) is fully available with source and is one of the most widely used open source code base for browser forks. [https://www.chromium.org/Home]
9. Epic Browser – Yet another Indian based chromium derivative that boasts full anonymity for the users. [https://www.epicbrowser.com/]
10. Comodo DragonBrowser Family – Comodo has a few browsers, comodo ice dragon, and its counterpart. They are based off chromium and firefox. [https://www.comodo.com/home/browsers-toolbars/browser.php]

1. Midori Browser – A small light weight browser. As of writing it does not support OSX, what a pity. [http://midori-browser.org/]

My favourite? Good old chromium (not chrome) seems to fit the bill. I am also very impressed by Opera, the browsing speed is amazing.
